Résumé

Cet article tente de procéder à une étude critique des romans d’Ayi Kwei Armah, dans le but d’analyser la perception de l’auteur envers l’histoire africaine politique contemporaine, ainsi que les réponses qu’il y apporte. A travers une étude
approfondie de The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born (1968) et d’Osiris Rising (1995), cette présentation suit la trajectoire des réflexions philosophiques d’Armah relatives au «problème de l’Afrique», dans sa relation à la gouvernance et au
développement. Cette étude est basée sur l’hypothèse théorique selon laquelle les arts littéraires africains, aussi bien écrits qu’oraux, sont susceptibles de stimuler le changement. A travers son aspect fictif, la littérature offre différentes
perspectives des problèmes existentiels et de leurs solutions. Un roman engagé politiquement, dans le genre de ceux qu’Armah écrit, constitue un canevas approprié aux interactions paradigmatiques de confrontation des idées et des
forces sociales.
