Résumé
La collection éditée par Jessica Piombo, The US Military in Africa: Enhancing Security and Development, examine le passage du département américain de la Défense (DoD) d'un rôle traditionnel à un rôle non traditionnel qui allie sécurité, gouvernance et développement en Afrique subsaharienne. Le livre montre ce changement et examine le lien dans le contexte du discours hégémonique selon lequel le monde sera un endroit sûr si les pays pauvres et les États fragiles ont la possibilité de se développer (Stern & Öjendal 2010). Ce lien a amené la gouvernance dans le paradigme de la sécurisation du développement puisque l'attention portée aux multiples couches de gouvernance, où la sécuritéles lois sont élaborées et négociées, est vital dans la quête du développement (Luckham et Kirk 2013).
