Kankwenda Mbaya Justin was born on June 20, 1945 and lives in Rockville in the United States of America. Professor of Economics at the Faculties of Information Science and Technology and at the University of Kinshasa, is United Nations Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Burkina Faso and today in Nigeria, Kankwenda holds a doctorate in economics from the National University of Zaire and a master's degree in development economics from the African Institute for Economic Development in Dakar. He also did doctoral research in development economics at the Institute of Applied Mathematics of Grenoble (IMAG) and at the Institute of Economic Research and Planning (IREP) and at the University of Grenoble I and II in France. Mbaya Kankwenda was also Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Economy and Industry (1985-1986). It was in 1988 that he joined the UNDP to this day. He is the author of several studies and publications on development issues in Africa.
